An Occupational Therapist with a passion for positive ageing and stylish solutions.
After many years working as an Occupational Therapist, a move overseas in 2018 created time and space to think about work directions. I was passionate about empowering older people, and curious about positive ageing initiatives in other countries.
I reflected on my previous work roles. Many older people I had worked with, experienced challenges or barriers in relation to the built design of their homes and places they liked to go to, such as cafes and shops. The design of many everyday products also created issues at home and in the community. In some cases, design features of homes and products contributed to falls or injuries that had long lasting effects for the older person.
A proactive approach to design for older people was needed. An approach that valued individual choice and style whilst promoting independence and accessibility.
Design for Age was created. It is a design consultancy service with a mission to create great experiences for people in later life.
We are passionate about changing conversations about ageing and empowering people and business to age well.
We employ Universal Design principles and Occupational Therapy experience to make a difference to people at home, in the community and at work.
We are inspired by older people from around the world and the lifestyles they want to lead, as well as designers, business and communities that are truly invested in age inclusivity.
Now firmly anchored on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, we provide face to face consultation or video consultation if needed.
